Bravo Replaces Injured Malinga

The West Indies allrounder, Dwayne Bravo , will be joining the Mumbai Indians team for the ongoing innaugral season of IPL 2008 replacing the injured Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga. Lalchand Rajput, Mumbai’s coach, confirmed that Bravo was the unanimous choice of the “few” names discussed by the team think-tank. Malinga, recovering from a knee injury that he picked during the CB Series in Australia, and, had to miss the Caribbean tour but was confident last week he would be fit to join the Mumbai squad. After the Indian Premier League from BCCI, Cricket Australia(CA) also want to launch its own version of a privately funded Twenty20 competition similar to the IPL. But the league will not be at the expense of Future Tours Program(FTP).

In a program for Fox Sports,Cricket Australia’s acting chief executive Michael Brown said ,”We always look at new ideas. We remain committed to international tours, but we are also aware of what Allen Stanford is planning in the West Indies with Twenty20, as is the International Cricket Council.
